In our ever-changing job market, there’s no such thing anymore as traditional pathways to success. While higher education remains a worthy aspiration for many, there is a growing recognition of the equally important role that career and technical education (CTE) plays in shaping a well-rounded and skilled workforce. More than just an alternative pathway, CTE provides myriad opportunities for fostering innovation and learning, economic growth and prosperous communities.But even CTE has to keep pace with changing times. I know a lot of folks grew up taking auto shop or wood shop or home economics. Today, though, it’s a different world—a world that requires a different set of skills and talents that are in demand. A data breach may have leaked all D.C. voters’ personal information, including Social Security numbers, according to the District’s board of elections.The board became said on Oct. 5 that it became aware of the data breach and said the hacking group, RansomVC, “breached DCBOE’s records and accessed 600,000 lines of U.S. voter data, including DC voter records.”Out of an abundance of caution, the board said it will be reaching out to all registered voters and are working with a cybersecurity consulting firm in regards to next steps.In the agency’s last update, it said exposed voter records contained information gathered from its canvassing process between Aug. 9, 2019, and Jan. 25, 2022.DCBOE said “it remains safe and secure to register to vote online” while their website undergoes maintenance. LA VERGNE, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Tennessee were searching Sunday for the estranged son of Nashville’s police chief as the suspect in the shooting of two police officers outside a Dollar General store.Officers in La Vergne, a city about 20 miles (32 kilometers) southeast of Nashville, were investigating a stolen vehicle outside the store Saturday afternoon when they sruggled with the suspect, who pulled a handgun and shot them, said LaVergne Police Chief Christopher Moews. Police identified the suspect as John C. Drake, Jr., 38, who is the son of Metro Nashville Police Department Chief John Drake.One of the officers was shot twice, in the groin and right forearm, while the other officer was hit in the rear left shoulder. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Lafayette Police Department responded to an incident early Sunday that ended in an officer-involved shooting.The incident happened Sunday morning around 2:45 a.m.Officers were sent to a disturbance in the 2400 block of Waneka Lake Trail. When they arrived, they found an adult man "actively stabbing his father with knives," according to police.The officers tried to get the suspect to stop, but "ultimately had to shoot him."Medical treatment was given to the suspect and the victim and they were taken to a local hospital for treatment. No officers were injured in the incident.According to police, the suspect will face criminal charges when he is released from the hospital.Two officers fired their weapons at the suspect.
