One dead after fatal altercation with friend

(KRON) – An altercation between friends led to one’s death on Friday night in Santa Cruz.Santa Cruz police responded to a report of a fight call involving two subjects in the 600 block of Front Street at 10:58 p.m. on Nov. 17. Suspicious package prompts closure on O’Farrell Street Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious male victim on the ground. According to police, SCPD, Santa Cruz Fire Department, and AMR Paramedics administered life-safe measures to the victim. However, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. According to the police investigation, two men involved in the fight were friends visiting the Santa Cruz area from out of state. The two men were walking together in the 600 block of Front Street when an argument ensued for an unknown reason. Police said the argument led to a physical altercation where the victim fell to the ground and lost consciousness. (BCN) -- The Redwood City Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a missing 34-year-old woman who has mental health issues and is at risk.Megan Quiroz was last heard from on Nov. 16, police said. There are no immediate details regarding her clothing, however, police describe her as a white female adult, is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 165 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair.Anyone with information is asked to notify the Redwood City Police Department at (650) 780-7100. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Dawson Garcia scored 14 points and Minnesota defeated South Carolina Upstate 67-53 on Saturday.The Spartans’ Trae Broadnex tied the game at 31-all with a bucket to open the second half but two free throws by Elijah Hawkins restored a lead that the Golden Gophers (3-1) would keep.Trailing by 11, the Spartans (2-3) got within six points with 4 1/2 minutes left on a six-point run capped by Miguel Ayesa’s 3-pointer. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Colorado House of Representatives passed a legislative measure to create a commission that would develop long-term solutions to rising property tax payments in the state. The bill, HB23B-1003, passed by a vote of 39-21, according to a press release, and must be passed by the Senate to be placed before Gov. Jared Polis and signed into action. How could higher property tax payments affect Colorado’s economy? The measure, if passed, would create the Commission on Property Tax Task Force to outline plans for long and short-term property tax relief. Members of the task force would include legislators, a property tax administrator and different local government and community leaders.
